Grace Fuchs
Grace was born in Booth township,Palo Alto Co.,Iowa in abt 1889. Grace was the eighth child born to Charles Fuchs and Anna (Alborn) Fuchs. Grace was raised on the family farm along with her other sibling. Grace married Martin Udesen. We know that Martin Immigrated to this country with his family in 1903 from Denmark. Martin parents were Ole Udesen born in Taulov,Denmark on August 31, 1845 and his mother name was Josie Jenson.

Grace and Martin Udesen were living in Booth township,Palo Alto Co.,Iowa in 1920 and are the parents of two sons Martin and Harold.

Grace husband Martin Udesen sign up his registration card for WW I on the September 17, 1918 and lists his and his family address as rural 2 Laurens,Iowa. Lists his occupation as farmer. His Height as tall, build as slender, eyes as blue, and hair as light brown.

Grace and Martin Udeson were the parents of a total of six children. martin later in life became involved in the roller skating Business also I know that they did live in Musactine,Iowa for a time operating a skating rink. Martin Also operated a rink in called the curling building in Duluth,Minnesota. that is where he live in his later years.

Grace (Fuchs) Udesen Died in 1938, in Marion,Linn Co.,Iowa and is buried their. Martin was born November 20, 1897 in Denmark. After Grace Dead Martin at some point did remarry a woman by the name of Flora Bell that called her Flore, they had no chidren of their own. Martin dead came on June 5, 1973 in Duluth Saint Louis Co.,Minnesota.



Mavin Clarence Udesen

Marvin was the first born child of Martin and Grace (Fuchs) Udesen. Marvin was born December 2, 1917 at the time Martin and Grace were living in Palo Alto Co.,Iowa. In November on the 28, of 1941 Marvin Enlisted in the Armed Forces It lists Linn Co.,Iowa as the county he is living in. Marion, Iowa is where is mother died in 1938 and that to is in Linn Co, so he must have been living in the area of Marion. Martin Enlisted at Fort Des Moines (Des Moines, Iowa) in the Army. His education is listed as 3 years high school his occupation as a tire re builder. He listed that he was single and no dependents, his height 72" weight 164.

Marvin Married Lorraine Ruth Ledue not sure of the marriage date. Lorraine was born in Saint Louis Co. of Minnesota and that she died in New Hope, Hennepin Co, this is a suburb of Minneapois, Minnesota. According to Social Security records her last residence was Rogers,Minnesota that is just northwest of Minneapolis,Minnesota. I do know that in July of 1953 That they were living in the St. Paul Area because they had a son born in Ramey Co.,Minnesota and a daughter was born in Lyon Co.,Minnesota in 1957 the daughter is married and a mother of two children. Lorraine Ruth Ledue was born May 26,1923 in Saint Louis Co.,Minnesota and died in New Hope,Hennepin Co.,Minnesota on October 31, 2001.



Harold A Udesen

Harold was the second born for Martin and Grace Udesen. Harold was born April 10,1919 in Booth township,Palo Alto Co., Iowa. In the 1920 census for Booth township Harold is listed as being 8 months old. I'm missing a lot of time in his life. I do know that he married to Shirley Rose Rasmussen. Shirley was born abt 1926 in Minnesota. In 1930 she was living in Minneopolis,Minnesota age 4 with her parents, William from Denmark and his mother Olga from Sweden. After Harold and Shirley were married. A son Richard Luvern Udesen was born September 1,1947 in Saint Louis Co.,Minnesota This is the County that Duluth is in and also where the family lived.



Lois Udesen


Lois was born March 18,1921 in Laurens,Pocahontas Co.,Iowa. Lois father wad martin Udesen and mother Grace (Fuchs) Udesen. Lois married Robert Van Orsdol May 12, in Xenia,Greene Co.,Ohio. Lois died August 12, 1978 in Blackduck,Beltrami Co.,Minnesota. Lois is also buried their. Blackduck is a small town in the northern part of Minnesota. Lois husband Robert Was born February 5, 1918 in Rowley, Buchanan Co.,Iowa. Robert father name was Jay L Van Orsdol and mother was Ruby.

Robert Van Orsdol related these facts to me about Lois and his life. They started a probable roller skating rink in Cedar Rapids,Iowa and it didn't go well as well as they had hope, It was only open about one month. Robert went to work somewhere else for awhile then tried the roller skating business again,with the same results. Then Robert and Lois were living in Omaha,Nebraska and he went to work for A&P grocery stores. Lloyd Fox Lois mother's brother was in Omaha, Nebraska and told him he would give him all the equipment he would need to open a rink in Red Oak, Iowa , Robert and Lois ran that rink for about a year. They sold the rink out there because Robert thought he was going into the army but they turn him down. After that he went on the road working for a drug company selling. then he quit that job and went back to Beatrice,Nebraska for 8 years and ran another roller skating rink. Then Robert and Lois sold out of the rink business in Beatrice and went to Waukesha, Wisconsin to build a roller rink instead he went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield and retired their in 1978.

Lois and Robert were the parents of 3 sons and one daughter The first child was a boy and born in Cedars Rapids, Iowa.The second son born in Omaha, Nebraska, the three was their only daughter born in Beatrice, Nebraska and the last son also born in 1953.





Darwin Udesen

At this point I must admit the the fact on him are few! This is still a work in progress.

Darwin was born June 23,1923 and died in Feb 1963 in Minnesota. Darwin enlistment record for WW II shows that he was born in Iowa and on December 14, 1942 At Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Darwin was living in St Louis Co ,Minnesota he was only 19 years old. it also lists that he had 4 years of high school and was working as a tire re builder. Darwin also work for a time in the roller skating business with the Fuchs/Fox brother who were his uncle's his mothers brother's Carl, Otto, Laverne. Darwin was married to a Doris have no last name.



Lavone Grace Udesen

Lavone Grace Udesen was born February 9, 1925. At this point i know that Lavone Udesen married Melvin Leichsenring. Melvin was born in 1923 in York Township, Iowa Co.,Iowa,Melvin appears to have come from around the Amana Colonies area, west of Iowa City area. Lavone and Melvin lived in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area, Lavone died in Mesa, Arizona December 14, 1995. Lavone social security were being paid out to a Cedar Rapids,Iowa. Lavone husband Melvin died in July of 1981 and also show that they were living in Cedar Rapids area because this is where his social security benefits were paid.

I'm not sure if their are any children from this marriage?


Dauane Udesen
Dauane Udesen was born October 12, 1926 in Laurens, Pocahontas Co.,Iowa, his nick name was Buddy. His parents were Martin Udesen and Grace (Fuchs) Udesen. Dauane was the youngest of 6 children 4 brothers and two sisters. Dauane Married Helen Louise Berg on December 27, 1950 in Duluth, Saint Louis Co.,Minnesota. Helen Berg was born in Duluth, Minnesota. Helen died January 14, 1990 in Duluth, Minnesota. Dauane and Helen are the parents of three sons.
Of their three son the middle son Gary John has died, Gary was born August 6, 1956 in Saint Louis Co.,Minnesota and was married and divorced To Mary Gail McMahon. Their are no children. Gary died September 6, 2005 in Duluth, Minnesota.
